Gerber

“Gerber” is one of the best-known American makers of baby food, now a subsidiary of Nestle. The company offers over 190 products in 80 countries and controls about 83 % of the baby food market in the United States.

However, as stated by Chicago Translation Services workers, despite the popularity of the brand popularity all over the world it is not marketed in France, because the French Translation of the name means “to vomit”.

Another marketing blunder of Gerber was that when they started selling baby food in Africa they placed a cute baby on the label, not accounting for the fact that common practice in this area is to put a picture of the contents on the label since most of the people are illiterate.
